Livia's trip to Asia
hellou to everybody,
how is the life going on around the world. I just arrived a few days ago in Thailand after 2 weeks spent in Cambodia.
The last time you heart something from me, i was in Vietnam - Saigon. so i really have to catch up with my stories and bla bla bla :o)
What can i tell you about cambodia and my trip there, first of all, i changed my travel buddy, miky a school friend from the university of applied science northwestern switzerland joint us at the 27.01 and Christine had to go home (unfortunately) Phnom phen is a nice city but we were quiet surprised that the life in Cambodia is more expensive than the life in Vietnam or Thailand but on the other hand, the country is really poor and the people are living in some kind of metal house or just in something built from wood.
We stood 3 days in phnom phen testing the seeing hands massage, a place where blind people do massage, it was so great, they really can feel where you have problems and we also tested the friends restaurant a place where streetkids find a place for education and a workplace. After phnom phen we did not really know where to go because in cambodia, there are not so many places to visite because the streets are in a poor condition and it it not so good for tourists to go there. so we decided to go to sihanoukville, the best decision we could have done. it is some kind of small paradise with no so many tourists and a lot of tiny restaurants at the beach where you could eat for 3 dollars and where you felt like in heaven surrounded by the sound of waves and a lot of little lights.... yeah as we did not want to see so much more of cambodia, we decided to stay there longer and do some dive courses. miky started the open water and i did the rescue diver. it was a great time with a really nice instructor called rued. unfortunately, the first day at the pool, i had a little accident with the tank of my diving equipment, i wanted to put it in the car and the floor was sliddering so i felt down and the tank on my arm. you can see the picutres of my nice arm on mikys page (link is on livchen.over-blog) anyway, that was not that bad but i got sick and could not continue the cours, i must have eaten something which was not good for my stomach and since then (8 days now) i do have to go to the toilette and i have crambs, therefore i had to go to the pharmacie in bangkok and got some antibiotiques. but i'm still alive, or some kind of alive :o) back to sihanoukville. so when i was sick, i had to stay 2 days in the hotel because i could not leave the toilette for so long but it was really nice because my dive instructor went to visite me 2 times to see how i felt and also miky was taking care of me. so i could continue the dive course and we went on an overnight trip, it was really nice and we also saw nice corals and beautiful fish. the only negative point of that trip was that i could not sleep that much due to our captain snorging so terrible, i have never heart a person snorring so laud, i did not even know that it is possible to do so :o)
yeah then we had to leave our nice paradise and went towards siam reap where we visited the ruins of ankor wat. impressive but after one day of stones, you have seen it :o) so then it was time to head towards thailand which was done with a terrible bus over a more terrible street, we felt like camel riding but we have been warnted about the street conditions. but it was still better to take this possibility of transportation because we could have taken the speed boat. Fortunately we did not do that because we met in Bangkok KRistina and wouter - the dutsch couple with which i traveld in vietnam / which we met in phon phen and which we met coincidentely in bangkok again - and they told us that they tried to take the boat but there was not enough water in the river anymore, so they had to change to a pickup really nice trip though :o)
arrived in bangkok, we found a place to stay and checked out a bit the city. i really felt like at home since it is quiet similar to hong kong (i miss hong kong soooo much) and the next day, we decided to look for a pharmarcie since my stomac was not any better. so before taking the bus to the norht of thailand chang mai, i took this drug but it was not a good idea to take it, because with the heat and everything i got fever of around 39.4 degreas and we had a 12 hours bus trip in front of us, was nice and comfortable :o)
no i'm still alive with some need of toilets and crambs :o) so now we are here in chang mai where we would like to do some hiking and cooking class. i will let you know about our adventures as soon as possible
big hug livia
